It is the highest peak in the Wayanad hills and among the highest peaks in the Western Ghats. Visits to the peak are organized by the “Chempra Peak VSS” under the control of the South Wayanad Forest Development Agency; guides are provided for trekking. Edakkal caves

Edakkal caves are two natural caves located 1200 meters above sea level on Ambukutty Mala. Pictorial writings inside the caves are believed to be from Neolithic man. The carvings are of animal, and human figures, tools used by humans, and yet-to-be deciphered symbols, suggesting the presence of a prehistoric settlement. The oldest petroglyphs may date back over 8,000 years. Such stone age carvings are rare and are the only known examples in southern India.

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Wayanad was established in 1973. It has an area of 344.44 sq. km with four ranges: Sulthan Bathery, Muthanga, Kurichiat, and Tholpetty, separated by plantations. Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is contiguous with the protected area of the Nagarhole National Park and the Bandipur Tiger Reserve in neighbouring Karnataka and Mudumalai of Tamil Nadu. Wildlife Safari in these Wildlife Sanctuaries provides an unforgettable experience with frequent sightings of free-ranging wildlife like herds of elephants, guars, deers, monkeys, tigers, leopards, bears, many species of reptiles, fishes, butterflies, birds, including endangered species of white-rumped and red-headed vultures, etc.

Meenmutty is a combination of the Malayalam words Meen and Mutty. The fall is a three-tiered waterfall with a height of 300 meters, located 29 km from Kalpetta in Wayanad. It can be reached through a 2 km hike through the jungle from the Wayanad-Ooty road, but the scenic nature and surroundings make it worth it.
