Wayanad is a picturesque hill station on the eastern side of North Kerala, nestled in the highlands of the Western Ghats. It is one of Kerala’s most popular tourist destinations due to the peacefulness of its beautiful hills, the beauty of its lush forests, wildlife sanctuaries, scenic lakes, magnificent waterfalls, and green plantations. You are in for a treat no matter when you decide to visit this fantastic location. Wayanad is spectacular in all seasons, whether winter, summer, or rainy.

To enjoy a comfortable and hassle-free journey to Wayanad, you must grab the following items. Even if the weather significantly impacts these essentials, there are some things you can’t live without!

Let’s have a look!

Summer Season in Wayanad

Summer season:

Summers typically lasts from March to May, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 35°C. Mid-noons, the hottest, is suitable for visiting tea, rubber, and coffee plantations, the lush forests enveloping the hills, or simply fibbing in the pool. Sightseeing can be enjoyed leisurely in the mornings and evenings when the breezy winds are flowing.

    Essentials to have:

  • Light cotton or linen for the hot weather.
  • A hat and a pair of Sunglasses to enjoy Wayanad’s splendor in style.
  • Because the weather is typically hot and humid, flip-flops or open shoes are excellent for sightseeing. Running shoes are suitable for Trekking.
  • Carry sunscreen to protect your skin from sunburn, as well as chapstick to keep your lips hydrated and deodorant in case you sweat a lot in the hot weather.

Winter season:

Wayanad’s winter months are October through February when you can wander the highlands in calm yet comfortable weather. Winters are great for exploring the mesmerising beauty of Wayanad in the pleasant temperature range of 22°C to 30°C.

    Essentials to have:

  • It can get somewhat chilly in Wayanad, particularly in the morning and late evening, so bring your jackets, sweaters, mufflers, scarves, and so on. If you are really sensitive to cold, bring gloves with you.

Monsoon season:

    Essentials to have:

  • Waterproof pants and windbreakers are needed throughout the rainy season.
  • Each tourist must bring one personal raincoat and an umbrella for each person, including children. Carry a windproof umbrella if possible, as it will be extremely windy!
  • A waterproof phone bag would be helpful if you were going on a hike or had to go out in the rain. Consider a slightly larger bag so that the rain can cover your other products, like power banks, chargers, and pen drives. The last thing you want is to lose your phone in the rain!
  • Bug Repellent and anti-slippery good quality shoes are also a must.
Here are some other packing recommendations:

  • Travel as light as possible and avoid carrying toiletries that can be purchased once you get to your location. Most resorts provide shampoo, oil, moisturizer, and other amenities.
  • Avoid overpacking and learn to mix and match your clothes. Remember, the less luggage you carry, the less hassle you’ll have.
  • Things like towels and hair dryers are provided at the resorts, so don’t bring them.
  • Generic drugs are also essential for resolving common health issues such as colds, coughs, sneezing, constipation, and diarrhoea.
